気になる画像を文字化してみる

テキストは拡散しやすい

Telegramをざっくり見るのが日課になっていて、中には気になるビットマップ画像がいくつもある。何かの書類をスキャンしたのや画面のキャプチャなど、拡散したい英語情報がたくさんあるのに、画像なのでそのままではDeepLに持っていけない。

最初は画面を見ながら手打ちでテキストデータにしていたけど、数が増えると手打ちは不便。なので画像読み取りをプログラムでできないか調べてみました。

Tesseract

Linuxで使えるOCR（Optical Character Recognition 光学式文字認識）ソフトを調べたら Tesseract が良さそうだったのでインストール。

sudo apt install tesseract-ocr

Tesseract テスト①：簡単な白黒画像

OUTPUTはテキストファイル名。拡張子".txt"はテッセラクトが勝手につけてくれるので以下のコマンドを実行すると OUTPUT.txt が出力される。画像は “.jpg” “.png"など主要フォーマットをカバーしている。
